Arsenal Wenger Says He’s In No Rush To Sign A New Deal

          Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger, insists he is not in haste to pen down a new contract with the club he joined in 1996, but says he always plans for the long term.

          Wenger’s current deal at the Emirate Stadium is due to expire at the end of the season and Arsenal’s Board will want to have him extend his contract with the London club.

“I believe that when you are manager at the club, you have to prepare for the long term always and act like you would stay forever,” says Wenger.

        “I believe that what is important is the next game.”

The Gunners have had to shake off their opening day home loss to recording a six-match unbeaten run (the longest this season), since their 3-1 loss to Aston Villa in August. They have also scored in 12 more consecutive games than any other side in the English top flight.

Arsenal are top of the Premier League standings on 16 points and hosts Norwich on Saturday ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League Group F clash against last season’s runner-ups Borrusia Dortmund in London.

Wenger, who turns 64 on that Tuesday, has confirmed that midfielders Mesut Ozil and Santi Carzola, as well as right-back Bacary Sagna, will all be fit to play on Saturday, but winger Theo Walcott is still two weeks away from a first-team return with a knee injury.
