An Anti-riot Policeman Allegedly Shot A Villager In Kolokolo Near Delta State

POLICEMAN IN DELTA STATE
An anti-riot policeman has allegedly shot Mr. Joseph Agbabule, a villager from Kolokolo, Enerhen, near Warri, Delta State, for allegedly invading the premises of Wallace Company, an indigenous firm engaged in electrification work in the community.
Vanguard learned that Agbabule and two others were sent by elders and leaders of the village to the company on October 21 to find out why the firm did not honour a meeting with the community the previous day, October 20.
It was gathered that when the messengers got to the company, a top official asked the mobile policemen on duty to throw them out of the premises and in the ensuing melee, the victim was shot.

He was rushed to the Central Hospital, Warri, from where he was referred to Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, Oghara, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Agbabule explained from his hospital bed that he was beaten and shot by a policeman when he came with other villagers to convey a message from his community.
The Centre for the Vulnerable and Underprivileged, CENTREP, Delta State, in a petition to the Inspector General of Police, by its Executive Director, Mr. Oghenejabor Ikimi, condemned the act and called for proper investigation.
He alleged that the police at Enerhen Police Station, Enerhen, where the matter was reported, were protecting the trigger-happy policeman.
His words: “We, however, note with regret that till date, no proper investigation has been carried out by the police, as they seem to be shielding the said culprit from prosecution.
“Hence the law firm of Ikimi Oghenejabor and Co., wrote a petition to the office of the Inspector General of Police for an independent and impartial investigation of the incident.
“This is to bring the culprit to book to serve as a deterrent to other blood-thirsty policemen in the force, as justice delayed is justice denied.”
