Cleric Warns Muslims Against Celebrating St. Val's Day

 

                Anwar Abbas, serving as the Head of Education at Indonesian Council of Muslim Scholars, explains why St. Valentine’s Day is not welcome.

Speaking February 13, Friday, the clergyman said that Muslims should not celebrate February 14 holiday which according to him promotes promiscuity.

               “Valentine’s Day is not compatible with our nation’s culture and religious tenets. This culture will destroy the morality of the young generation.”

                 According to Punch, he also raised alarm over the increased sale of condoms in bags of chocolates.

                   The information about packaging of condoms together with chocolate sparked outrage among the conservative Muslims.

Following the reports local authorities raided stores and markets to confiscate the brand new product.
