Police Arraigns Blogger In Lagos For Defaming Bank CEO – Full Details
The Police Special Fraud Unit on Tuesday arraigned a blogger, Seun

Fidelity Bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo, by publishing that Okonkwo impregnated
one Justina, a married woman working in the marketing department of the
bank.
Oloketuyi, who was arraigned on two counts of malicious defamation,
was accused of further publishing that the alleged affair between
Okonkwo and Justina led to Justina’s husband, Ben, sending her out.
Oloketuyi was accused of publishing that Okonkwo had taken over the
responsibility of Justina’s children and had sent her abroad to further
her education.
The police, however, said it investigated a petition written by
Okonkwo, following which they found out that Oloketuyi published the
story to maliciously defame Okonkwo.

be false, for the purpose of causing him annoyance, insult and ill-will
on naijahottestgist.”
In count two, Oloketuyi was accused of publishing “defamatory
matters” against Okonkwo “with malice” while knowing that the
information was false.
Prosecution counsel, Olakanmi Omisope, said the alleged offence
contravenes Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition) Act, 2015
and Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C38.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charges following which his lawyer attempted to orally apply for his bail.
The court however rejected the application and ordered that the
defendant should be remanded pending his formal bail application.
The case was adjourned till September 1, 2015 to hear the bail application.
