Man arraigned over alleged N4.3m fraud
For allegedly defrauding two men of N4.3million, a young man, Anthony
Okpala has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court, Ebute
Meta.
The defendant was docked on a four -count charge of obtaining under
false pretences and stealing under sections 311 and 285 (9) (e) of the
Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2011.
He was alleged to have fooled his victim, Ibrahim Tsafe and
collected
N4.25million from him in the guise of importing cooking stoves and
ceramic tiles from China.
The defendant also allegedly defrauded one Ibrahim Zango of N750,000 with pretence to secure Chinese visa for him.
Prosecuting Inspector Cousin Adams told the court that the alleged offence was committed last year, around Ojodu.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him
and was admitted to bail in the sum of one million Naira with two
responsible sureties in like sum by Magistrate H.O. Omisore.
She adjourned the matter till September 15 for mention.
