Boko Haram Targets Cameroon’s Far North, Kills 10
Security sources said that the suspected Boko Haram militants have attacked Cameroon in the Far North region of Cameroon on Saturday, November 21.
At least 10 people were killed in attack including suicide bombers, while a dozen were injured.
A senior Cameroonian army commander of the attack on the village of Nigue, a suburb of Fotokol town, said: “The initial figures speak of 10 dead including the suicide bombers and around a dozen wounded.”
According to some officials Boko Haram has lost important ground in
northern Nigeria, the group that for years has threatened the nation
with murder, abductions and other violence.
However, the sect is still carrying out suicide bombings and other targeted attacks throughout the region.
The deadly sect has mounted many attacks in Cameroon, Chad, Niger and
Nigeria this year and is turning the border region near Lake Chad into a
war zone.
In line with the arrangement establishing the Multi National Joint
Task Force, each member country including Nigeria, Chad, Niger Republic
and Cameroon were expected to contribute troops towards effective
control of the contiguous borders aimed at stopping easy movement of the
insurgents.
