A 21-year-old barber, Ugbede Daniel, has been remanded in prison custody.
Daniel was sent to prison by a Lokoja Chief Magistrates’ Court on
Friday for allegedly stabbing to death one Ebenezer Agada, 28, at the
burial ceremony of their aunt.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Chief Magistrate, Levi
Animoku, said the offence of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221
of the Penal Code attracts a death penalty.

He also transferred the case to Chief Magistrate Court in Ankpa, and adjourned the case till September 27 for mention.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Tuesday Ganagana, had told the court that the
crime was committed on August 25, at Egahimotu-Ogugu in Olamaboro Local
Government Area of Kogi State.
Ganagana said the complainant, Joseph Daniel, had reported that a
quarrel had come up between the deceased and the accused during the
burial of their aunt, Rose John, at about 9pm that day.
He said as a result of the misunderstanding, the accused, Daniel,
who was armed with a dagger, forcefully dragged the deceased to the
front of the house and stabbed him in the chest.

the pool of his blood until he was rushed to the General Hospital, Okpo,
where he was confirmed dead.
