Why Sheriff can't win at the supreme court - Ekanem

Chief Sunday Ekanem is a chieftain of the people's democratic party (PDP) in Lagos. He is also the chairman of the  south-south PDP forum in the state,
in this interview with Iniobong Iwok, he talks about the crisis rocking the party, reveals the plans of the markafi lead factions and why the Buhari administration has failed,among several other sundry issues.
Excerpt:

PDP presently is in crisis and fictionalized is there a end in sight?

There is no faction, we have markafi as the head of PDP.  There is no way the court can decide who lead a party. The constitution of the party is clear, the minority judgement at the court of appeal was right; we are going to appeal that judgement. Our judges should stop giving judgement they can not enforce. The two judges did not use the wise judgement of king solomon.
The moment that judgement was delayed I knew there was something fishy.

What if Sheriff win again in the supreme court?

He is not going to win in the supreme court. Don't forget that the same supreme court give judgement in favour of us in the Ondo governorship election, by declaring our candidate Abraham as the lawfully recognized.

But there are insinuation that some PDP federal lawmakers have given their support to Ali modu Sherrif?

That is not true, majority of the federal law makers from PDP are supporting markafi. Including the ones in the house of representative, they are all  supporting markafi. The house leader, Leo Ogor has said that they are taken Sheriff to court, to challenge his candidacy. So the issue of supporting Sheriff because of 2019 does not arise; he is not the one to give them ticket to return to the house it is the party to that would decide.



But Sheriff is the legally recognized chairman and has promise to hold a convention,markafi seem unclear with his plans?

The question is: would he hold a convention like the congress he did in Edo, where he presented a weak candidates for the party so that APC can win easily? A convention were some people would come and he would present himself as the presidential candidates of the party. Can Sherrif win one state in nigeria?
Sherrif was planted into PDP by the APC. I was in ANPP before so I know him, he destroy the party and brought his inlaw, he is not here to save the PDP but to destory it,I blame those that brought him in the first place thought they have apologise.

Don't you think the current crisis would affect the chance of PDP in 2019 elections?

PDP is still strong, but I would not tell you the plan b, we have a plan b if Sherrif wins at the supreme court. What is happening is unfortunate they have done it for AD before, where they impose candidates on the party, where is AD now?

As a leader among the south-south PDP in lagos state, how would you react to the violence that characterised the rivers rerun elections?

We contested against the police and the army,but the people were resolute that they were going to elect who they want. Amaechi is a curse person, the whole leaders of the state have place a curse on him. Thank God Osibanjo did not take him alone while touring the Niger delta to settle issues,you can see that he Amaechi lose his constituency in the election.

But Amaechi was there with Osibanjo in rivers, and the APC have accused your party of Rigging,while several touts were arrested?

Yes he was in rivers, that is his state. Those people arrested were APC touts, if they see any PDP tout let them prosecute them. people have seen the different between APC and PDP. APC can never win election in river state, that is because Wike have done excellently well.

Poverty and infrastructural decay is prevalence in the south- south inspite of allocation and wealth, were do you place the blame?

Is just like the Hausa have been ruling us for along time but we still have bergers in the north. It Is not like that; you need more recsources to build road in the niger-delta, because of the terrain  of the place. In Akwaibom state the former governor change the state he equip the schools, in Uniuyo most of the courses were not accredited when he came,he fix that. The state have move from: education backward state to; educational advances state.
The PDP under Apakbio gave good leadership to Akwaibom state.

Are you bothered about recent revelation of how corrupt some PDP members were in the last administration?

It is all media hype. Every were you go they say PDP is corrupt, what they are doing is media trial. We would see were Ademola trial would go. They say the Buhari money to Ademola during his daughter wedding is not bribe;but the one given to effiong is bribe. what the government is doing is media trial that  is why they are failing.

Diezianie said the money they saw in her account is not her money. This government came by deceit and they can't  do anything. There is no law that say president wife can not do business.
or she can not keep money in her account. Let them stop this media trial. Buhari is not fighting corruption, Buhari is malining PDP. let him go and fight fashola that build borehole with 200million, let him go and fight Amaechi and fayemi that have been accused.

What have the south south caucus of PDP in lagos achieved?

What we have done is to deliver all house of Assembly positions, we deliver eight Assembly and six house of representative in area that were predominately non Yoruba speaking and one came from surulere ,Itire. Where they are predominately non Yoruba.

But some of them have recently decamped to the APC?

Let them be sincere to them selves if they we're not promised money; that is why they decamped. let be sincere and fear God, some of them told me they promised them money, and that they were not given good committee membership. But why would some one promised some one money to decamped? They were promised money; that is why they decamped.

Are we likely to see more people from the south-south in the coming LG election.

Yes we have south-south people coming up as LG chairman, councillors we are confident they would win. But we are afraid there would not be a level playing ground in the election by the APC.

The APC has refuse to conduct LG election in the state what is your position?

APC is afraid to conduct council election in lagos because they know they would lose. If they had conducted the election last year,two month ago the party  would have lose. But you never know what this APC have in their slips. so they are trying to put something on ground, do one road or the other because they have done nothing.


Assessment of Buhari administration so far?

Buhari has been the worst government  in the history of nigeria. He as been a colosal failure. look at the dollar, is now 500 naira to a dollar,inflation rate has hit 18.5 percent. This is the worst government for a decade in term of foreign direct investment. He as no economy policy; that is the man that say he would equal one naira to a dollar. The man Is clueless.
