Primary School Teacher Dies After Taking Cocaine During Her Friend’s Birthday Party

A primary school teaching assistant was found dead on her sofa just hours after snorting cocaine and drinking alcohol during a night out, an inquest has heard. Jeanette Allen had been at a pal’s 40th birthday party, but decided to stay out late while her partner, Robert Christian, went home, the hearing was told.

The “hardworking” 39-year-old was discovered dead the following morning by Robert, who called paramedics but “knew that she was gone”.
Tests showed the cocaine she had taken with alcohol had triggered underlying heart problems, the inquest in Heywood, Greater Manchester, heard.
A doctor told the hearing that Jeanette had suffered an acute heart attack, adding: “The cocaine sped the process of the heart attack up.”
Jeanette’s GP records showed that she had been seen regularly in the year before her death on May 28 this year, for low blood sugar and complications with her diabetes.
She has also been diagnosed with kidney disease, and had been prescribed with anti-depression medication to combat anxiety and feeling low.
