Speaking with journalist on Friday, during a press conference, the initiator of Project TMEN, Sir (Louis)
Ikechukwu Okalia said the official launching of the project slated for November 24, 2018 at Golden Tulip
Hotel, FESTAC will mark the beginning of a revolution to combat youth unemployment in Nigeria.
He decried the spate of unemployment in the country which has been the motivating factor behind the
project, he said: “According to the National Bureau of statistics, Nigeria’s populations is over a hundred
and ninety million (approximately 190,632,261 people), with an increasing rate starting from 2%
annually”. “About 50% of this number belongs to the age group of 18-50 years, which we can classify as the working age in Nigeria. Unemployment has claimed over 15% of the working population. Even the employed population has least 30% of its count underemployed. We can categorically state that at least 14,297,419 Nigerians are unemployed while about 48,039,329 Nigerians are underemployed”.
“The deplorable state of unemployment in Nigeria has placed the country among the top 25 countries with the highest unemployment rate in the world”.
“The unemployed and underemployed population has been identified as our project targets; we have also developed a working solution which clearly is Project TMEN”.
“Mentorship is key to growth in the career of everyone, especially fresh graduates and start-ups. Knowledge is never enough, application of knowledge is a wisdom passed on by Experienced Mentors or via direct Personal Experience”.
“The Direct Personal Experienced takes time and has its odds. For this, we have set upon us to mentor youngsters and start-ups through our individual and collective experiences on application of knowledge for realization of purpose and maximization of potentials”.
“Research has shown that unemployment situation in our country is not just due to inadequate jobs across the Nation but most Job Seekers are unemployable”.
Project TMEN is designed to proffer viable employment within three to twelve weeks of implementation. We have put so much in place to create jobs. Simply put; by encouraging self-employment, we are indirectly creating jobs; when the self-employed hire one or more workers, it further creates more jobs.
The Project to cater for both entrepreneurs and Job Seekers. Our mentorship support trains Job Seekers on skills and professionalism required making them relevant in today’s business world, this makes them top choice for employers.
The company also runs a Human Resource Department that promises to provide jobs to at least 80% of Job Seekers that pass through Project TMEN.
The company also understands it is not easy for fresh graduates to get jobs as most companies require work experience before placing new employees on payroll. They have designed impactful Internship Programs to help fresh/inexperienced graduates get chances to be productive and ready for employment.
