Joseph Effiong fondly called ”Odogwu” is a seasoned Nigerian Broadcast Journalist, Author, Social Crusader and the CEO of UpdateAfrika Communications Limited, one of Africa’s leading brands in the provisioning of world-class media solution company providing solutions from micro to mega consumers across the continent.

His knack for seeing what others do not, has helped him turn a small business, which started in his bedroom, into a successful empire, positioning it’s self as one of Africa’s foremost Media Solution Company of first choice among-st discerning Clients.

 Joseph is a man who has tasted failure, and understands what it means to be down. The loss of his father at a tender age (6 months) was a huge blow, and the subsequent hardships that accompanied that tragic event, molded his outlook to life. He had to learn how to survive. Rejected by family and friends, Joseph made up his mind that he would not give in to despair or defeat.

The astute entrepreneur has a rejuvenated penchant to motivate young people across the globe to strive for success despite the odds.

When asked what inspired UpdateAfrika? He said ”If you really love your children, get a business not a job; because when you die your children cannot inherit your job, but they can inherit your business. In fact, if you die on the job, your boss will replace you before your burial. If your family live in the company house, they will be kick them out before they can say anything. So when you close from work, don’t go and watch television. Go home and think of a business idea.

 ”Your boss only owe you a pay-cheque, not the responsibility to make you rich. Your thinking and the choices you make daily will determine whether you become rich or not. Change your thinking, save and invest. Above all, think entrepreneurship and explore your potential.” He added.
