Court jails 3 Fasters Over N1m theft

Three internet fraudsters known as Yahoo Boys’, Ihechi Charles Okeke (alias Owolabi Sunday Sunny), Mayowa Afolabi Adigun and Etop Udeme Smith, have been jailed by an Ikeja High Court for stealing N1million from a First Bank Plc Account No. 2000521715 belonging to one Osunkoya Mary in Lagos.

Delivering her judgement, the trial judge, Justice Kudirat Jose, noted that the convicts had returned N1m to EFCC as restitution to the victim and ordered that the money be returned to her (Mary).

It would be recalled that the convicts had earlier pleaded not guilty to stealing and conspiracy charge brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

However, during trial, the trio entered plea bargain with the prosecution and the charge was amended to one count charge of stealing to which they pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr Ekele Iheanacho, informed the court that the offence was contrary to section 285 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
