Barely one month after two female students of the Adeyemi College of
Education (ACE), Ondo, in Ondo State were declared missing and were
later found dead, another female student of the institution has been
declared missing again.

Miss Oluwaseun Mary Olaniyan, a 100 level student of the Department
of History at Adeyemi College, was announced missing by her close
friends from the campus on Wednesday after she failed to show up in her
apartment.
According to a close her friend who pleaded anonymity while speaking
with Sahara Reporters correspondent in a phone chat, Miss Olaniyan left
the campus on September 1st, 2017 to visit an unnamed male colleague but
did not return back to the hostel.
“She [Mary, as popularly called] left us in the room that evening to
pay a visit to another friend but unfortunately, she didn’t return and
we don’t know the reason.” “We have tried all mobile lines but none is
connecting, please help us tell the whole world that the female students
in this school [Adeyemi College] are no longer safe,” she said.
Sahara Reporters learned on Friday that the sudden disappearance of
Miss Olaniyan on the campus has forced the Dean of the Student Affairs
of the school, Mr. Olaniyi Olaluwoye, to issue a circular warning the
female students to guard their movement.
Mr. Olaluwoye, in the circular obtained by our correspondent,
cautioned the female students of the institution to be conscious of
their movement, particularly with their male counterparts.
He said the sudden disappearance of Miss Olaniyan from the campus
made it the third female students to have gone missing from the
institution in a month.
“This is to remind the students in the college, particularly the
female students to be extra careful and be security conscious of their
movement with their male partners, specifically the so called “boy
friends”. This information is necessitated by the ugly events within
with the immediate environment of the college in recent time.”
“The disappearance of Miss Olaniyan Mary Oluwaseun of the Department
of History [Decree 1] on the 1st of September, 2017 made the 3rd female
student of the Adeyemi College that got missed between July 2017 and
September, 1st, 2017.
“Our particular aspect of the missing female students is the fact
that they all got missed on the ground that one was either invited by
her friend or the female student told her landlord or friend that she
was going to visit her boy friend only to disappear into the thin air.
This is saddening and worrisome.”
“In the light of the aforementioned ugly and sad events, students are
hereby reminded to be careful of their activities with their colleagues
because of the complexity of human relationship is unfathomable,” he
said.
