Woman Chases Away Knife-wielding Robber Who Attacked Her In Her Shop. Photos

 

A shop worker who was confronted with a knife-wielding robber has spoken of the moment she chased him off with a baseball bat after being cut by his knife in a scuffle. CCTV shows how a man wearing surgical gloves and carrying a steak knife demanded money from the till at the store operated by Andrea Rose.

Rose has worked at Longlands Stores in Middlesbrough for six years but could not have been prepared for what happened while working the weekend shift.

“I thought it was just one of the locals having a laugh,” Andrea, 44, said. “He came in and locked the door behind him. I then realised he had a long knife, it was like a shiny steak knife.”

After realising the intruder wasn’t a regular customer, Andrea decided to think on her feet, Gazette Live reports.

“He said something about money and I told him he wasn’t getting any. I told him there was no money and to go away,” she said. “We have a panic button and I knew that it would worry him if I pressed it.”

Unfazed by the attempted robber, Andrea tried to push him out onto the street outside.

She said: “I started pushing him out of the door, I felt like I could have pushed him over if I’m honest.

“The knife nicked my finger and there was some blood and I think that shocked him so he left. “I picked up a baseball bat that we have and chased him out, I was going to give him a good whack. “I also thought about getting a photograph of him but he ran off.”

Despite the terrifying incident, Andrea said there was no point where she was in fear for her life.
